Description
The adjoining underwater national park (Watamu Marine Nationalpark & Reserve) is one of the oldest in Africa. Inside the national park fishing is prohibited. Sightings of turtles, whale sharks, dolphins or mantas are not a rarity here. There are more than 150 species of colorful and healthy hard and soft corals and a big variety of fish species.
Watamu also is an important breeding area for turtles – mainly green turtles and hawksbill turtles.
